Spring Has Sprung in AB

With spring here in Alberta comes a lot of outside activity and no more playing video games – especially for the kids. We have a lot of fun in the downtime going to the little stream that flows past our place and having fun throwing rocks in the water. I don’t care what generation you live in, this is a timeless activity that all kids – especially boys enjoy.

With that being said, there is a lot of work to do, but not before I have to get surgery on my elbow. Last August, I broke a bunch of piece off of it and they get stuck in my joint occassionally and this is very painful. Today at 2:00pm MST I am hoping to live stream the surgery on qik so make sure you head on over and check it out.

Twitter Contest Announced

The other day on Ustream.tv, I announced that I was going to launch a Twitter related contest for one lucky follower. Here are the details. Once I reach 100 Twitter followers, I will draw a name at random and that lucky person will receive a 1GB iPod Shuffle. I know it’s not as big or as cool as what some other people are giving away, but the reality is that I don’t have many followers and I could always use some more.

I mostly twitter about things regarding tech that’s going on at BCCHardware.com, but I do include some personal stuff. I’m not as noisy as some people and I won’t kill your texting plan with 20+ tweets a day. Most weeks I send out about a dozen or so – just to keep you up to date on what is going on.

When the winner is drawn, I will send out a tweet that must be responded by via twitter in order to win. We’ll keep you updated as we go along. For now, sign up for twitter – follow me and keep watching to see when I reach 100 followers!

There are getting to be a tonne of social networking apps for mobile users. Many of these center around Twitter, Pownce, FriendFeed or Facebook and most of these are limited to text only. Generally speaking if you want to add video it can be a pain, and not something many novice users are willing to try and figure out. If you Twitter, you may have heard of TwitPic which allows you to add pictures quite easily to your Twitter Tweets.

12Seconds.TV is a new startup that wants to allow users to be able to quickly share 12 seconds of their life via video clips. Eg.
